Vivendi increases Canal Plus stake

France's Vivendi SA tightened its grip on the country's biggest pay-TV channel, Canal Plus France, after agreeing to pay €744 million ($1.11 billion) for a 9.9% stake and offering another €383 million for a further 5.1% holding.

Vivendi will take its holding in Canal Plus to about 75% with the acquisition of the larger stake, which is owned by Television Francaise 1 SA, a French free-to-air broadcaster controlled by conglomerate Bouygue
