BBC Worldwide considers IPO

Long-running speculation about the future of the commercial arm of the British Broadcasting Corp. took a new turn Wednesday with a report that its parent is exploring a partial IPO.

According to the Financial Times, BBC has sought advice from banks including Credit Suisse Group and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. about holding an initial public offering for BBC Worldwide Ltd. The business had more than £1 billion ($1.7 billion) of revenue in its last financial year and owns the rights to some of the U.K.'s most lucrative TV programming.
